Where is the best place to hang a porch swing?

The obvious answer to this question is...on the front porch. But it is important to find a spot high enough to support chains that are seven to eight feet high. The spot should also be wide enough for crash-free swinging. Back porches, balconies, garden or sun rooms and patios are all good places to place a hanging swing. If you have purchased a swing, it may or may not come with a hanging kit. If not, kits are available separately. The swing should be hung from an overhead beam. Two swing hooks should be installed to the beam. These hooks will hold the chains hooked to the porch swing. Use four chains to hang the swing from the hooks. Two chains will descend from each hook. These will attach to the front and back of the swing on either side. Galvanized screws should be used when assembling the swing. These are weather resistant and won’t rust. Powder-coated chains are also available and are rust free.
