Where can I purchase a porch swing?

Porch swings are commonly found at home improvement stores, hardware stores, garden centers, in catalogs or on-line. A simple porch swing made of pine can cost as little as $100. A custom-made porch swing might cost over $1,000. The final cost of a porch swing depends on the materials used and the customized style. Kits and patterns are available at garden centers if you want to build your own porch swing. This will save you money, but will require assembly. When assembling or building a porch swing, it is important to use galvanized screws, not nails. These will not rust when exposed to weather. Screws are important because they are more secure and will not pull apart over time as nails will.

Since porch swings have been a part of American homes since the late 1800’s, old or vintage porch swings can be found in antique stores, consignment stores, at auctions or estate sales. These antique porch swings are also found on on-line auction sites, but the shipping will be costly on large items, so be careful when bidding on these type of “treasures.”
