Features to Look For

When you are purchasing a steamer chair there are many "frills" to choose from.
  • Fold Away - Nearly all steamer chairs will fold up into a much more compact form for easy storage and travel. This is something you may want to check for anyway though just to be on the safe side.
  • Child Sized - Every child wants the opportunity to be like their adult counterparts. What better way to let them pretend then their very own steamer. Retail for a Teak, child sized steamer is usually around $250.
  • Adjustable - Yet another common place option in the steamer world. Most are at least adjustable in the back area and some even offer a fold away or removable foot rest.
  • Some Assembly Required… or Not - Most chairs will come with some assembly required, but some come with all the dirty work done for you.  Others still come as kits and you put everything together yourself. The kit is obviously the cheapest of the three.
  • Solid Brass Fittings - Chairs with brass fittings tend to last longer and it is what they used to make most of the original steamer chairs.
  • Stained - Be on the look out for chairs pre-stained chairs. Especially if you don’t want your Teak to gray or if you are getting a chair made of Nyatoh or other hard woods. You are going to have to stain them anyway, so you might as well get the first coat for free.
