It’s time to start your camp fire or barbecue. But you don’t have a firestarter. So you venture out to find one that you can purchase; hoping it will do its job. When you do shop around for one, don’t just pick one up because you like the looks of it or it’s portable. Here are some tips on what you need to do to ensure you get the right one for the job you need it for:

·        What is it for: What type of fire do you need started? Is it for a barbecue or a campfire? Do you need the fire started even when the material is wet? Do you need the fire to be long-lasting? Look at the product and read what it is for before you buy it.
·        How are they made: Are they made of chemicals or natural? Are you concerned about man tearing down trees needlessly to make the firestarter? You want firestarters that are not made from chemicals or burn off chemicals in the air.
·        Easy to use: When you purchase a firestarter, you don’t want anything complicated. Just a simple mechanism that you can use to start a fire quickly. You certainly don’t want one where you have to depend on something else to help ignite it. That’s defeating the purpose of the firestarter.
·        It is versatile: Can you use this firestarter for any type of fire? Can you use it for fireplaces, wood, coal, or pellet fuel stoves? Is the firestarter weather resistant and waterproof? You’ll be out of luck if the firestarter wasn’t.
