The city of Tulsa is comprised of 187 square miles. The metropolitan area is made up of seven counties (Tulsa, Rogers, Osage, Wagoner, Okmulgee, Pawnee and Creek) and over 20 suburbs and outlying cities. Demographically speaking, Tulsa is predominantly Caucasian (70%), with other population segments including African-American (15%), Native American (5%), and Asian (2%). The other 8% are Pacific Islanders, a combination of two or more races, or another race. The median household income is only around $36,000, but Tulsa is listed as one of the top five cities in the country in which you get the most for your money. The main reason for this is the extremely affordable cost of living.
