Tulsa enjoys a fair climate that experiences each of the four seasons, although not necessarily at their extremes. The city is part of Tornado Alley, the region that experiences more tornadoes than any other in the world. In addition to the potential for tornadoes, Tulsa experiences frequent thunderstorms, especially during the spring months, some producing large hail and very strong winds. The city experiences average annual rainfall of about 42 inches, and therefore has one of the country’s most thorough flood control systems.
