The city of Tulsa boasts many famous citizens in all walks of life. Probably the most famous country music artist in history, Garth Brooks, is from Tulsa. Also hailing from the city are actors Gary Busey and Tim Blake Nelson, actress and supermodel Amber Valletta, basketball coaches Tubby Smith and Nolan Richardson, and classic actor Will Rogers. There is even a famous fictional character that calls Tulsa home: Roy D. Mercer, of redneck radio fame! Jazz musician Wayman Tisdale hails from Tulsa, as did former Major League Baseball pitcher Satchel Paige, who was the oldest man to ever to win the Rookie of the Year Award.
