The Tulsa Zoo was recently voted the best in the country! This enormous facility, located east of Sheridan Road at 36th Street North, houses 1,500 animals from 436 species. It is even home to a “Contact Yard,” an area in which visitors can occasionally interact with some of the animals at the zoo. In 2004, the Microsoft Corporation chose to feature the Tulsa Zoo in one of its video games, “Zoo Tycoon 2,” an award that carried with it a $250,000 grant from the computer giant.
