Businesses and organizations are most concerned with the cost of services when choosing a commercial moving company. Most people will choose a commercial moving company by the estimated price given. The most prominent way rates are figured is by determining the distance the move will cover. This is divided into two separate categories of “local move” and “long distance move”.
The local move is usually charged by the hour. The rate for the move will be dependant on the number of movers and trucks required for that particular move. Additional material usage is also written in the estimate as an extra charge for each item used only. The time that is charged will begin at the first office location and ends at the second location when the work is completed.
The long distance move is charged by weight and distance outlined in Tariff 400-N. Tariff 400-N is the principle moving industry tariff that regulates the transportation of goods in the United States and Canada. Long distance commercial moving is charged by weight of shipment, the mileage from origin and destination addresses, the amount of packing required, bulky articles, and the amount of valuation protection coverage.
