Nicaraguan food is very different from the food in the United States. Obviously, due to cultural influences, the food has much more of a Spanish flavor. Many of the local dishes are derived from the country of Spain and other surrounding Latin American countries. Rice and beans are very common in meals. They are served along side chicken or beef. Seafood is also common in the country of Nicaragua. The seafood is also guaranteed to be fresh since the country is bordered by oceans on two of its four sides. Beer is also a common sight to be seen in restaurants and bars in the country. Sweet and fruity flavored drinks are also quite popular in restaurants and bars. Due to the economic state of the country of Nicaragua, most of the food is grown locally and sold in local markets. Food preparation and development are much more organic in Nicaragua than compared to the food processing nation of the United States. However, in some of the more developed cities, there are some fast food restaurants within Nicaragua. Some examples of these restaurants are McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, and Subway.
