On your last day in Nicaragua, another shopping trip to the local Masaya Market in Masaya is recommended. Or you could go to the Huembes Market, which is located in the city of Managua. These local markets offer all kinds of souvenirs, clothes, shoes, decorative items, and flatware. There is also so much local culture and flair that you could not get anywhere else. The city comes alive with its own unique atmosphere and air. It is hard to not get caught up in it. A nice, leisurely shopping trip through the streets of Managua is a wonderful way to start to wind down a trip to Nicaragua. Lunch in a local restaurant in Managua is a must. The local restaurants in Managua have wonderful food and have a fabulous atmosphere. The second half of the day could be spent strolling through the streets of downtown Managua. There are various decorative statues and museums that offer great picture opportunities for travelers. The architecture and art work are unlike any other. The museum holds artwork and national artifacts. It also has historical artifacts that hold special sentiment with the country. Another good place to visit is the Palacio Nacional, which is literally the National Palace. This is a place that houses the government offices. Tours of the building are offered; and, it is a good place to take pictures. Dinner on your last night in Nicaragua should be in Cocina de Dona Aydee. This is a nice restaurant in Managua that serves typical Nicaraguan food. Dinner at a place like this can be a wonderful way to top off your three day Nicaraguan experience. One last dip into one of the pools in your hotel could be a great way to relax and prepare yourself for packing and the long return trip home.
