A trip to Nicaragua is a long one. You will probably want to try to get into Nicaragua in the late afternoon or early evening to provide yourself with a night of catching up with sleep and to shake off the jet lag that is sure to accompany your arrival. Therefore, a night of rest, relaxation, and sleep is recommended before embarking on a journey to explore the sights of Nicaragua. This will allow you to wake up feeling rested and ready to take it all in. On the first day in Nicaragua, a trip to the Mombacho Volcano, an active volcano in Managua is highly recommended. There is so much to do and see. The forests that line the slopes of the volcano are lush and thick, alive with plants and animals. The beautiful scenery makes for wonderful opportunities for pictures. You can take a tour up to the top of the volcano, or drive up to the top yourself, and walk along the outer rim. There are nature trails all along the slopes of the volcano that you can stroll through and enjoy all of the beautiful scenery as well as the wildlife that abounds among the trees. If you are feeling really adventurous, you can even take a canopy tour. This tour involves gliding from treetop to treetop while strapped into a harness that is attached to zip lines. This is one of the most amazing experiences that you will ever encounter. It is absolutely incredible to go from tree to tree, high above the ground, and see all the gorgeous vegetation and animals that live up near the tree tops. However, if you are afraid of heights, this activity may not be for you. Almost the entire tour is held at least thirty feet off of the ground, with some held up to a hundred feet off the ground. After a day on the slope of a volcano and gliding through trees, a great way to unwind is to eat a delicious dinner at the very nice La Plancha restaurant in Managua. This restaurant is a steak house that serves incredible food. The service at this restaurant is also very good. After dinner, you could return to your room and watch a television show while your dinner settles. Then, to top off the day, you could go for a swim in one of the hotels several pools to cool off and relax after a very exciting and fun filled day.

Your second day in Nicaragua should be spent at Pochamil beach which is located about an hour outside the city of Managua. A full day at the beach is a must for any vacation to Nicaragua. The beaches are pristinely beautiful and are filled with activities for the whole family. Other than swimming in the crystal clear ocean water, you can build sand castles, play beach volleyball, play soccer or Frisbee on the beach, or simply lay back and soak up some rays. When you start to get hungry for some lunch, you can simply duck into one of the restaurants at the hotels that line the beach. The food is fabulous. And, for some reason, it always seems to taste better after being outside for a while. The second half of the day could be spent horseback riding. Horseback riding along the beach is an activity that is available for anyone to partake in and enjoy. Horses are available for rent at stables along the coast. After an hour or two on horse back, you could return to your beach chair and take in the last couple of hours of sun and fun before having dinner at a nice seafood restaurant on the way back to your hotel in Managua. A short dip in the pool to cool off and relax would be nice before retiring to your room, catching a little bit of television before drifting off to sleep.

Or you could go to the Huembes Market, which is located in the city of Managua. These local markets offer all kinds of souvenirs, clothes, shoes, decorative items, and flatware. There is also so much local culture and flair that you could not get anywhere else. The city comes alive with its own unique atmosphere and air. It is hard to not get caught up in it. A nice, leisurely shopping trip through the streets of Managua is a wonderful way to start to wind down a trip to Nicaragua. Lunch in a local restaurant in Managua is a must. The local restaurants in Managua have wonderful food and have a fabulous atmosphere. The second half of the day could be spent strolling through the streets of downtown Managua. There are various decorative statues and museums that offer great picture opportunities for travelers. The architecture and art work are unlike any other. The museum holds artwork and national artifacts. It also has historical artifacts that hold special sentiment with the country. Another good place to visit is the Palacio Nacional, which is literally the National Palace. This is a place that houses the government offices. Tours of the building are offered; and, it is a good place to take pictures. Dinner on your last night in Nicaragua should be in Cocina de Dona Aydee. This is a nice restaurant in Managua that serves typical Nicaraguan food. Dinner at a place like this can be a wonderful way to top off your three day Nicaraguan experience. One last dip into one of the pools in your hotel could be a great way to relax and prepare yourself for packing and the long return trip home.

A vacation to Nicaragua would be a unique experience. It would be one that you would not soon forget. To see all of the beautiful scenery and natural settings that are characteristic of Nicaragua is truly a wonderful experience. To get more information on a vacation to Nicaragua, the Internet is a good place to start looking. It would allow you to look at various different places that you could stay and activities you could enjoy while also providing you with important information, such as prices. This is an active volcano that allows tourists to travel up the side of the volcano and walk along the outer rim. The slopes of the volcano also have beautiful nature trails that tourists are encouraged to stroll down and enjoy the lush forests and active wildlife. If desired, a canopy tour can also be taken on this particular volcano. A canopy tour involves gliding from treetop to treetop while strapped into harnesses that are attached to zip lines. This is truly an incredible experience and one that many people thoroughly enjoy and wish to repeat again. It allows you to see the forest of the volcano from an entirely different view. In the afternoon, if time allows, you may want to do a little bit of light shopping in the local markets of Managua. For dinner, a restaurant in Managua called La Plancha is recommended. The food is wonderful; and, the atmosphere is very relaxing.

No trip to Nicaragua would be complete without a visit to the Montelimar Resort. This resort is an all inclusive hotel that rivals those in the United States. There is a wide variety of activities to do at the hotel. If these do not satisfy you, the resort also borders the Pacific Ocean and has private beaches. On your first day at the Montelimar, it is suggested that you spend the day at the beach. Sleep in and get up when you are ready. Then make your way down to the beach and soak up the Nicaraguan sun. There are many activities that you could partake in, but you do not want to do everything all in one day. If you start to get hungry, just head up to a restaurant and order, charging the food to your room. A day spent swimming in the ocean and laying lazily on the beach is a wonderful way to start a relaxing vacation.
