Even today, Britain is widely associated with New Zealand because even though the shores of New Zealand was discovered by a Dutchman, it was Englishman James Cook that managed to dismount from his ship and explore what New Zealand had to offer.
Many exhibits are in place in memory of a great explorer and whilst Britain is no longer strongly associated with the New Zealand, the flag details part of the British Flag which has remained for centuries and continues to be shown as part of New Zealand’s history.
Due to the breakout of the Second World War, the two countries remained very strong allies until the war ended in 1945 and as a result both nations kept their lands with minimal loss and today the closeness of these combined regions is still alive today.
