New Mexico can be easily separated into five regions. The three major economic hubs are Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Taos are located in the North Central section of the state.
The Northeast corner is still reminiscent of what was once known as the Wild, Wild West that was traveled and inhabited by famous outlaws and pioneers.
The Northwest corner is considered “Indian Country,” as many Native Americans still make their homes in pueblos here.
You probably wouldn’t expect to find much in the Southern half of the state, but travelers are pleasantly surprised to uncover even more history and natural beauty. The Southwest region is also linked to the times of gunslingers and is full of authentic ghost towns.
