From child care to master degree’s, the Atlantic City region offers a wide variety of education choice’s for residents and future residents. Child care facilities operate in every area of the region, with many different kinds available. Some are linked with excellent pre–schools, which permit parents to keep their child in the same situation as they grow into the school year. For pre-schools, a similar wide range of choice’s exists. Many regional communities are identified as school districts, where the public schools have contracted with private centers to provide pre-school education for three and four year olds as required by a Supreme Court decision. Other districts receive funding from the Department of Education for early childhood education. At the Kindergarten to 12th grade levels, all communities provide varying levels of competency among their students. Many school districts have recently completed aggressive building programs resulting in state-of-the-art education facilities at all levels. Private schools are also represented in the region, ranging from religious based to specialty schools. The region also boasts four charter schools and public schools that are designed to respond more effectively to the motivated student. Charter schools are located in Galloway Township. Atlantic City, Linwood and Pleasantville. For students with special needs, Atlantic City provides services in Absecon, Corbin City and Mays Landing. Atlantic County Vocational Technical School provides education basics and career training for non-traditional students. For higher education, Atlantic County has recently seen an influx of programs for college and graduate level students. Atlantic Cape Community College is a two year public institution that serves Atlantic City and Cape May counties, with the main campus in Mays Landing and branches located in Atlantic City and Cape May county. Atlantic Cape Community College offers excellent programs in culinary arts and casino edu! cation. Richard Stockton College is a mid-sized award-winning liberal arts college nestled in 1,600 acres of pristine southeastern New Jersey pinelands. Rutgers School of Business-Camden offers programs at the ACCC Atlantic City branch. Fairleigh Dickinson University also offers advanced degree programs in the Atlantic County region. Rowan University, in Glassboro, is just a short drive from Atlantic County.
