» The Monadnock Region
Mount Monadnock towers over the region and serves as the central point for activities in the area. Monadnock State Park has miles of trails to appeal to hikers. The smaller Greenfield State Park offers a small beach as well.
The area also has several quintessentially New England villages. Touring Peterborough, Fitzwilliam, Keene, Hancock, or Francestown (or all of them if you have the time) is a more than pleasant addition to your New Hampshire journey. The one you should not miss, however, is Jaffrey Center. It is New England loveliness at its best.
Dining in the Monadnock Region:
Acqua Bistro in Peterborough offers regional fare with a Mediterranean slant. Twelve Pine is an upscale deli housed in a former railroad building. Luca’s Mediterranean Café in Keene is a fine choice as well.
