Day Six

Amsterdam has several other museums you might want to tour, according to your interests. Amsterdams Historisch Museum has exhibits focusing on the city’s history. The Scheepvaartmuseum (Maritime Museum) has exhibits about the Netherlands exploits at sea, and the Museum Von Loon is a magnificent 17^th century house that was once home to Willem van Loon, one of the founders of the Dutch East India Company.

 

For history of another kind, try the Heineken Experience. It gives an overview of how the yeast was discovered that gives Heineken its unique taste, as well as an explanation of how the brewing facilities changed from 1867 to 1988. The admission price buys you two servings of Heineken beer, along with a souvenir glass.

 

For the evening, check and see if there are any performances at the Concertgebouw or the Muziektheater. Amsterdam is a great place for opera, music, and dance, and if you can catch a show, by all means do so.
