1. Olathe
Olathe is a Johnson County suburb of Kansas City with outstanding family neighborhoods and award winning schools. 2. Overland Park
Overland Park is one of the fastest growing communities in the U.S. and most sought after places to live in Johnson County, Kansas. This community is experiencing outstanding growth such as great schools, vibrant business growth and outstanding shopping destinations.

Overland Park is known for having many choices of home styles, and home appreciation has traditionally been higher than average in Overland Park. The average sales price for resale homes sold in Overland Park was $179,787. The average new home in Overland Park lists for about $408,845. The city has about 162,592 residents, making it the second most populous city in Kansas.

3. Shawnee
This city is dedicated to keeping a serene environment, which is particularly evident in Shawnee's extensive park system. Residents enjoy a wide range of entertainment and recreational facilities including the 1150 acre Shawnee Mission Park that offers activities such as paddle boating, archery, tennis courts, hiking trails, a beach and an outdoor theatre. Across the street is the Tomahawk Hills Golf Club, Movie Theatre and several restaurants. There is a lot of construction in western Shawnee where the average price of a home is about $185,000.

4. Lawrence
A booming college town, Lawrence, Kansas current has around 500-600 properties for sale. Over 1300 were sold over the last year, continuing to make Lawrence on of the few sellers markets in the Kansas City area.

Within the last year, the highest sold price for a home in Lawrence was $865,000, and recently there were five properties listed above this price, up to $1,350,000. This skews the average list price to $230,447, with a median of $179,900. Over the past year, those numbers were $188,946 and $160,000 respectively. Lawrence continues to be a dynamic place for real estate.

5. Lenexa
Lenexa has many opportunities for families, professionals and singles alike. Conveniently located in the middle of Johnson County, within 20 minutes of downtown Kansas City, Lenexa hosts numerous festivals and events, promoting a small-town sense of community. Lenexa has a wide variety of homes with prices ranging from $95,000 to over $1,000,000.

6. Andover
The Andover, Kansas residential real estate industry is "going strong". January of 2006 sales registered above January 2005.
