» Day Four - Tuesday
Morning Activity: It’s time for a day at the zoo! Find your way to the Detroit Zoological Park, 8450 W. Ten Mile Road in Royal Oak. The zoo covers 125 acres and includes a great ape complex, a snow monkey area with hot spring, a reptile house, a free-flight aviary, and penguin and polar bear exhibits. A miniature railroad carries visitors around the grounds of the zoo. The zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and we think you will want to spend most of the day here.
Lunch: You will find several concession stands located throughout the park. Buy your items and make you way to the main picnic area behind the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery.
Afternoon Activity: After lunch, finish up at the zoo, visiting the exhibits that you did not get to see this morning.
Dinner and Evening Activity: Make your way to Comerica Park at 2100 Woodward Avenue for an evening Detroit Tigers game (be sure there is a home game tonight and that you have advance tickets!) – and plenty of ballpark food for dinner. This state-of-the-art facility is the new home for the Detroit Tigers, opened in 2000. Get there early to buy dinner at the concessions, enjoy the picnic area and go for a whirl on the carousel and Ferris wheel before the opening pitch.
