All you have to do is walk around an airport and you will probably see people carrying small pets with them in a carry-on bag or in large crates that they will be checking on the plane. You will also see pet travel carriers at camp sites and other places that people travel to by car or train. Why do so many people use pet travel carriers?

• If you’re traveling by plane, carriers are required. They keep your pet contained and safe to himself and others while moving from state to state, country to country, etc.
• Travel carriers are also very useful for pets when traveling by car. First of all, they help keep your pet under control. Whether they get excited in moving vehicles or scared, carriers keep them in one place. It also keeps others safe. Though it may be nice to have your dog out while you’re driving, they can be a distraction and, if they get in your line of vision, can cause an accident. Carriers also prevent unnecessary clean-ups. They can be lined with newspaper and can be easily taken apart and sanitized if your pet uses the restroom on the trip. If it gets all over your seats, that may be a different matter.
• Carriers also work great as beds/homes for your pets at your destination. If you’re going on vacation and want to take your pet, a tent or a pet playpen can be the perfect place for them to be able to feel comfortable and explore the new location yet not get into any trouble.
