There are a variety of sizes, shapes, styles, and materials to choose from when finding the perfect travel carrier for your pet. The carrier that you choose to purchase and use will depend on the size of your pet or pets, what kind of animal they are, your method of travel (car, plane, etc.), and whether or not your pet will need to stay/sleep in the carrier while on the trip.
Here are a few examples of the different kinds of pet travel carriers that are available and what they’re made of:
• For dogs, there are small tents made of mesh and nylon, built strong yet still soft. These feature great ventilation and a nice amount of light and visibility. These tents are perfect for short car trips where you want to travel with as little as possible.
• For many small animals, this little car seat transforms into a backpack and rides on wheels, making it easy to pull if you don’t wish to carry it. It also fulfills most airline carry-on regulations for small pets and can be strapped down in the car with a seatbelt. It is made of mesh and polyester.
• This carrier and stroller in one is perfect for old pets or those with joint problems. Made of water-resistant fabric, mesh, and a steel frame, this stroller allows you to take out your pet with his leash, treats, and other toys and then fold it up for easy storage when back home.
• For tiny cats, dogs, ferrets or other pets, the “purse” carriers are very popular. They are seen being used by millionaires and movie stars who like to carry along their little friends at all times, but anyone can purchase them. Usually a little more expensive than other carriers, these luxury totes have comfortable cushioning for pets and safety cords which keep them from jumping or falling out of the bag. There are also pockets for other “purse” items inside the bag.
