» What are the Different Types of Garment Bags?
Garment bags were once a simple nylon bag that zipped up and contained a hanger at the top for hanging clothes. While this concept remains the same, garment bags have evolved a great deal. They are now an important piece of luggage that is extremely helpful when traveling. Garment bags are made in many different colors, sizes, fabrics, and styles. There are several different types of garment bags available and one might be better than another depending on your particular needs and desires. Listed below are some of the most common styles of luggage bags.
· Bi Fold
A bi-fold garment bag serves the same purpose as a traditional garment bag; it gently holds clothes while traveling. However, a bi-fold bag folds in half at the center. This fold makes the piece of luggage less cumbersome which, in turn, makes it much easier to handle. Bi-fold garment bags take up less space, are more compact, and are easier to store than traditional garment bags. Depending on the particular style, they can sometimes be carried onto the airplane and placed in the overhead compartment.
· Tri Fold
A tri-fold garment bag is designed to store clothing and other items while traveling and can become quite compact when doing so. They are actually a full sized garment bag that can be folded three times to decrease its length and make them easier to handle. Most tri-fold garment bags are constructed with a strap that allows the traveler to fold it up and easily carry it on their shoulder when needed. Some types of tri-fold garment bags can even be carried on the airplane and placed underneath the seat.
· Rolling
A rolling garment bag is typically a larger piece that can hold a great deal. They are constructed with built in wheels on one end and a handle on the other. This enables the piece to be pulled along with little effort. Because a rolling garment bag is larger it is usually required to be checked in at the airport with other oversized suitcases. Rolling garment bags are heavier than bi-fold or tri-fold bags simply because they contain a frame, wheels, and a handle. However, they are an excellent choice for travelers that will be carrying their luggage over long distances.
· Garment Covers
Garment covers are your basic garment bags. They are lightweight and easy to handle. They are not designed to hold a great amount of items and are not quite as durable as other styles of garment bags. They are a great way to keep your clothes neat and clean while on an overnight car trip. They can also be used to simply store special articles of clothing safely in your closet at home.
· Gown Bags
A gown bag is often longer than a traditional garment bag and is specifically designed to transport a special gown or dress. Gown bags can also be used to keep a special item clean and neat while hanging in your closet at home. They are extremely lightweight and not intended to hold a large amount of items, but are perfect for a select few.
