The City of Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States. Estimates place the city’s population at 3.85 million. Los Angeles stretches from the City of San Buenaventura to the north, the City of San Clemente to the south and the San Bernardino Valley to the east. Founded in 1781, Los Angeles was a provincial outpost under the succession of the Spanish, Mexican and American rule. The city is 470 square miles and contains 38.7% of the population of the County of Los Angeles. There are several colleges and universities located in LA including the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, California State University at Los Angeles and several others. There are seven community colleges located within the City. Boasting one of the best climates in the world, Los Angeles draws visitors year round from around the world. This city has so much to offer those who live there and visitors who vacation there. Bordered on the west of LA, one finds Beverly Hills and Hollywood on the east.
