There are a few different methods for applying fertilizer to your lawn. The size and type of your lawn will help you to determine the method that is best for you.

• Water Spraying – This is a fast and easy method of applying fertilizer if you have a small yard. By using a garden hose and a soluble fertilizer you can simply spray down your yard. Be careful to always wash out the sprayer over your grass or soil instead of your driveway. The fertilizer or herbicide may run off the concrete area and into storm drains. These storm drains lead directly to water sources.

• Hand-held Spreader – This is another easy way to fertilize a small yard.

• Broadcast Spreader – This is a good method for fertilizing a large yard. However, if you overlap when using a broadcast spreader, you will end up with a green striped effect on your lawn.

• Drop Spreader – This is another good method for fertilizing a large yard. With the drop spreader it is much easier to see where you've already applied fertilizer.
