Even though its main function is cooking, the kitchen often becomes the hub of a home. It is the family meeting place, it is the catchall for all the stuff modern families drag in from work and school and it is where the family has meals. Friends and family are drawn to a well organized, bright and clean kitchen! Thankfully, the modern kitchen has evolved from a smoky room with an open fire to beautifully equipped spaces with all the modern conveniences. The kitchen cabinet is crucial in the design of any kitchen and is basically the backbone of the room. The location, storage capabilities and design of the kitchen cabinets set the tone for the whole room. There are three main functions in a kitchen. They are cooking, storage and food preparation. All but one of these functions takes place on or in kitchen cabinets. Cooking of course, takes place on the stove or in the oven but storage and food prep happens with kitchen cabinets. Other than the refrigerator, cabinets provide storage for dishes, pots and pans and food. Kitchen countertops play the main role in our food preparation.
