Nearly every major American city has an outstanding highly ranked baseball team and the White Sox have a great history who still play great games today again other major teams throughout America.

Originally known as the White Stockings, the Chicago based team played their first game against the University of Illinois in 1900 and defeated them with a score of 10 – 9.

Only a year later on January 29th 1901 was the American League to draw up a schedule of games and the White Sox went on to beat Cleveland 8 – 2 in the first “official” league game.

The White Sox’s reign of terror continued against other American Leaguers and went on to win the World Series in 1906 by defeating the Cubs. Success was not always on the cards for this team but they played many great games and are known as one of the greatest teams in the state and possibly beyond.
