Iceland is known for its many natural wonders – immense forests, prodigious mountains, incredible fjords, stunning glaciers, and more. However, perhaps some of Iceland’s most breathtaking views are its waterfalls. All across the country, cascading waterfalls are just waiting for visitors to come admire their passionate glory. Here is a sampling of some of the well-known Icelandic falls:

• Dettifoss. This is the most powerful waterfall in Europe and is located in Jökulsárgjufur National Park.
• Dynjandi. 200 feet high, this waterfall also gives birth to other waterfalls that exist below it. It can be found near Arnarfjörður.
• Glymur. The highest waterfall in Iceland – 650 feet tall.
• Goðafoss. This beauty is photographed more than any other waterfall in the north and is called the “Fall of the gods.”
• Gullfoss. This fall is included in the some Iceland daily tours and is visited more often than any other waterfall in Iceland.
• Hengifoss. Iceland’s third waterfall in height is located in eastern Iceland and can only be reached by a long walk.
• Seljalandsfoss. This quite narrow waterfall allows visitors to walk behind the falls without getting drenched.
• Skógafoss. Enjoy a hike up to the summit to truly enjoy this rainbow-covered fall near the southern coast at Skógar.
