If your boss is merely annoying—strange quirks, a propensity to talk too fast or too long, dresses poorly, or doesn’t handle things quite like you’d want—then yes, it’s best to just ignore the situation. Everyone has things about them that other people don’t like. But if we’re talking about a truly difficult boss, one who makes your job miserable, then no, ignoring the situation could only hurt.

The problem boss isn’t going to get better, most likely. Left unaddressed, the situation usually just gets worse. You’ll boil and simmer with frustration and anger until the problem just blows up. So, instead, dealing with the situation at least gives you a chance to make things right—or leave trying.
