What better way to be a good teacher than to teach in a way that matches the way your student learns? A learning style is the way a person processes, comprehends and learns new information.
Everyone has different learning styles, ways he or she optimally learn. It is vital to factor your children’s learning styles in to your choice of curriculum. There are four main learning styles:
· The Visual Learner: This student learns best by visually viewing the material. They like to read it themselves, look at pictures or watch you do it. This is the most prevalent learning style. Most curricula, in book and video form, are perfect for the visual learner.
· The Kinetic Learner: Also known as the tactile learner, this person learns best by touching, feeling and doing it himself. This is the smallest category of learners. It can also be the most difficult to accommodate. Sometimes it is best just to let these learners move while learning!
· The Auditory Learner: The auditory learner retains knowledge best by hearing it. This person does well with lectures, tapes and learning things through song.
