How do I move my piano?
When you interview moving companies, ask them whether they move pianos, and if so, how much experience they have. Keep in mind that general household movers will likely charge an extra fee for moving a piano along with the rest of the contents of your household. Therefore, consider hiring a professional piano mover to handle just your piano. To find a reputable piano mover, contact local piano stores or piano teachers and ask them for recommendations.
How do I move my pets?
Just as moving can be very stressful for humans, pets can be equally disturbed by the transition. Most pets can make the move with you in your automobile. Remember to bring along plenty of food and water, a leash for letting your pet out of the car during breaks and newspaper or sheets to keep your car clean. If you are moving during extreme temperatures, keep in mind the dangers this can pose to your pets and plan accordingly. Also plan ahead to find hotels that allow pets.
You might also consider sending your pet by airplane while you travel by automobile. If you are having your pet shipped by air, be sure someone can meet your pet at the destination airport and take care of it until you arrive. Some kennels offer this service.
Check with your airline for pet regulations, and keep in mind you may need to provide a health certificate from your veterinarian, special pet container that meets airline regulations, and special medication such as tranquilizers.
