» Other ways to Reduce Dust Mite Allergens
If dust mite covers alone do not alleviate your allergy symptoms, there are other ways to combat dust mites. There are special carpet treatments available to inactivate dust mite allergens and reduce dust mite population in your home. It may also be advisable to purchase a HEPA air purifier or install a HEPA filter in your furnace. Removing upholstered furniture, stuffed animals, and other dust collectors and avoiding heavy blinds or
draperies are also recommended. Of course, frequent vacuuming and dusting furniture, baseboards, and woodwork with a damp cloth will also significantly help. In extreme cases, complete removal of wall to wall carpeting and replacement with wood or linoleum may be suggested.
