Putting on your dust mite covers may be a two person job since it requires removing your mattress and box spring. The steps to covering your mattress and box springs are as follows:
 
  1. Remove the mattress from your bed and carefully slide the first dust mite cover over the box springs and zip it.
  2. Apply tape over the entire length of the zipper. (You may purchase zipper tape to do this, but a wide electrical tape works just as well.)
  3. Slide the second dust mite cover over the mattress and apply tape over the zipper.
  4. Put on mattress pad and sheets as usual.
  5. Pillow covers slip on and zip up easily and are used underneath the pillowcase.
