People may wear contacts for a variety of reasons. Most of the benefits of contact lenses can be divided into three main categories – Contacts as a Vision Alternative, Contacts as Medical Alternatives, and Contacts as an Eye-Color Alternative.

Contacts as a Vision Alternative –
Contact lenses are prescribed by doctors for vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and uneven focus. They also offer an ease in vision improvement when they can be put into eyes in the morning and not thought about again for several hours. If individuals need to correct their vision yet would rather not wear glasses or have lasik eye surgery, contacts are a fabulous vision alternative.

Contacts as a Medical Alternative –
Eye doctors often prescribe contacts to treat a variety of eye diseases and other conditions. If you have had cataract surgery, for example, a doctor may choose for you to use special contact lenses rather than to receive lens implants.

Contacts as an Eye-Color Alternative –
Many people choose to use contact lenses not for prescription reasons but rather for fashion. Non-prescription and prescription lenses can be purchased in a variety of colors, so that the owner can change their eye color either all the time or periodically.
