This immune malfunction is caused by the body’s reaction or hypersensitivity to everyday substances or allergens. Many symptoms are very annoying such as a runny nose and watery eyes. Sometimes symptoms of allergies can be so severe they can be life-threatening. Anaphylactic shock or even death can be a result of out of control allergies. This irritating condition is characterized by a runny nose, red and itchy eyes, asthma and even skin rashes (hives, eczema and dermatitis). Hay fever is a common group of symptoms that plague many people. Many allergies result from sensitivity to plants (hay fever), mold spores, sensitivity to medicines, foods (nuts, seafood, eggs, peanuts, milk & wheat) and insect stings. Allergies interrupt work, play and exercise. In an effort to control them, consumers are willing to try prescriptions, over the counter drugs and products that are produced to relieve the annoying symptoms caused by allergies. There are numerous products available to the consumer. Many people take weekly allergy shots in an effort to desensitize themselves to allergy triggers. The most common interventions involve products that are available to the average consumer.
