Where should I put a floor screen?

Floor screens can be placed anywhere there is a visual or physical need, though you want to keep in mind the flow of the room. A floor screen should enhance the space it occupies and not provide an obstacle through the room. Think of it as a tool to use, akin to a step stool. Pull it out when needed, fold it up and store it in a closet when not. Other ideas for where a floor screen can be useful include office spaces, classrooms, and reading nooks in a home.

·        Decorative—If you want a floor screen for decorative purposes, then the sky is the limit on where you place it, as long as you keep in mind the room enhancement principle from above. Even when adding visual appeal to a room, you want to make sure you are not detracting from your goal. Large hand-painted floor screens need to be given the proper space to be placed and respected. This would be most appropriate in a large, formal sitting room, dining room, or foyer area.
