» Where can I use decorative throws?
The traditional places to use decorative throws are the couch, the chair seat or back, and maybe even the corner of the bed. However, there are a plethora of other places in your home just waiting for a little attention and redecoration.
Start with the floor. A cozy chenille throw is perfect even in the middle of a carpeted room. (TIP: If your floor is hard-wood or another slippery surface, use no-slip pads on the corners or rubber backing on the decorative throws to prevent falls.) Then move up. You have probably seen those throws across the backs of couches. Consider using an old bedspread across the whole thing for a cheap couch cover. Even if you don’t have an old bedspread, used ones can be purchase at thrift stores for a very inexpensive price. Now evaluate the piano. Is it scratched, or does it just need a face lift? Drape a small decorative throw across the top of it, possibly angled. The same goes for the
coffee table. And the list could go on and on.
Be creative! The decorating possibilities are endless. Combine materials – designs and textures. And find colors that support the mood you’re going for in that particular room, whether it’s trendy, retro, or just eclectic. For many more great ideas regarding decorating with throws, the internet is a wonderful source for inventive suggestions. You can also get help from home decorating magazines and even free catalogs from home stores.
