The Apple iPod 30GB (Gigabytes) is the newest model of iPod. While Apple is keeping the iPod's focus on audio, this model actually plays video as well. The screen is only 2.5 inches, but video looks great on it. This model is also thinner and has new audio capabilities, like high-quality stereo recording. It holds digital pictures too. It has just a few drawbacks: it has no pan and zoom for photos, recording requires an adapter, and an optional Apple AV cable costs $20. The Apple iPod 30GB (with video) costs around $300.

The iPod 30GB's menus are relatively the same, adding a new Videos menu that accesses video playlists, movies, music videos, and video podcasts. There is a Video Settings menu that lets you enable or disable TV output, go between NTSC and PAL format, and turn the widescreen on or off. The battery allows about 16 hours of audio playback for MP3s and a little over two hours of video playback. The 60 Gigabyte version offers 20 hours of audio and three hours of video on one battery charge.

The iPod supports Mac and iTunes, but you can also put your own videos on it using QuickTime Pro. Reviewers have also said that it is possible to get TiVo and DVD content onto your iPod, although you may have to search online to learn how.
