There is no doubt you could go to Sam’s Club or Costco and get a beginners guitar. However, it is recommended that you stick to a recognizable name brand even if you are just starting out. There are plenty of manufacturers that have beginner guitars on the market that look great. While a guitar may look great, it is more important to own a guitar that is made well and that stays in tune. Buying a guitar that is cheap and goes out of tune often will prove to be extremely irritating. By having to constantly tune the guitar you will run the risk of permanently damaging the neck of the guitar. Fixing a cheap guitar is somewhat redundant, as it will probably cost as much to fix it as it was to buy it.

Name brands like Taylor and Martin now have great beginner guitars at reasonable prices. Now it is possible to purchase a beginner guitar that has quality craftsmanship and decent tone, plus you won’t have to spend all day tuning it. Look to spend around $200 on a decent beginner guitar. In the end, you will be thankful you spent the extra $75 on a guitar that will make your initial guitar experience pleasurable as opposed to painful.
