Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands, is the quintessential medieval city. As the principal colonized medieval settlement in Europe, there so many unique areas to explore within the town. Take a walk down the Avenue of the Knights, which is lined with spectacular medieval buildings. Here you will find the Palace of the Grand Masters, an intended holiday home for Mussolini.
  • Western Harbour Wall: This area in Rhodes contains the Plateia Vasileos Georgiou, a pedestrian area where the Italians constructed many remarkable buildings. Visitors can begin by visiting the “neo agora”; this new market possesses a wide variety of tavernas, restaurants, bars, and gift shops. When you are done here, make sure you spare some time to visit the Governor’s Palace, which dates from the era of the Knights as well as the Murad Reis Mosque.
  • Ecclesiastical Museum and Museum of Folklore: Within the Rhodian village of Asklipeio, there are two small musuems. One museum displays village life over the centuries through its folklore gallery whereas the other museum concentrates on ecclesiastical affairs and features old Bibles, icons, and documents related to the Greek Orthodoxy religion.
