The origins of yoga are found in the ancient culture of India. The word itself comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “to unite”. Ideally, the purpose of yoga is meant to unite the body and mind during a series of poses or “asanas”. After completing these poses there will be a time for relaxation and meditation. Many feel that the main benefits of yoga are gained flexibility, strength in the muscles and a source to eliminate stress in a healthy way.
