Each piece of Pilates equipment has accessories that accompany and enhance their use. Listed below are some examples:

·        Poles: Poles are used in standing exercises performed on a reformer. Typically made out of wood, metal, or plastic; poles retail from $20 to $45.
·        Pilates Mini Ball: The mini ball is generally used in conjunction with a Pilates DVD. It is used for resistance to provide muscle tone, strength, and flexibility. Mini balls often come as part of a DVD set but are also sold separately for $9 to $35.
·        Pilates Mat: A Pilates mat might be the most crucial accessory to Pilates equipment. Mats are used to provide cushioning for your back when you are performing your Pilates exercises on the ground. They protect your back and spine from any damage that a hard floor could cause. If you plan on following a Pilates DVD regimen make sure you have a mat. They are inexpensive costing on average of $40.
·        Foot Plates: These are used along with a reformer. Foot plates allow you to add cardio to your reformer routine. They typically range in price from $90 to $200.
·        Rings and Circles: Rings and circles can be used to strengthen leg or arm muscles while performing Pilates exercises. Typically rings and circles are made out of rubber, plastic, or tempered spring steel. You can find rings and circles starting at $30 and going up to $60.
