In order to make jogging
strollers as unique and convenient as possible, manufacturers have included all of the amenities that standard
strollers have and sometimes even more.
o Seats: The seats in jogging
strollers will recline, but do not lie all the way down like some standard
strollers. Some seats are padded and all have safety straps.
o Brakes: Most jogging
strollers come with hand brakes that apply braking to the front wheel. The braking is mainly for parking and not necessarily slowing down the stroller. It is nice to find a jogging stroller with lockable brakes for the rear wheels as well so it will remain stationary when you need to load and unload the stroller.
o Canopies: Canopies are important because they shade your little passenger from the sun, wind and even rain. Be sure that the jogging stroller you choose has a canopy that reaches far over your baby’s head so maximum protection is provided.
o Color: Although color does not seem like an important feature for a stroller, it is something to consider if you will be jogging frequently. Consider a stroller that is light in color so the sun will not be attracted to it, making it warmer than necessary for your baby. Also, you might want a stroller that is a bright color so others can easily see you.
o Adjustable Handlebars: Some mid- to high-end jogging
strollers have the nice feature of adjustable handlebars. These are nice for families where both parents will be using the stroller and one parent is taller than the other. Also, adjustable handlebars are nice for parents who would like to push their stroller while inline skating. The skates raise the parents at least two inches.
Other convenient features that are nice to have include safety wrist straps, storage baskets and pockets, key lashes, cup holders, quick release wheels and large foot plates for baby’s comfort.
