Within many countries throughout the world, farming is a major part of the economy for any country to survive and for Egypt, despite many different varieties of fruits, vegetables and cotton that is being produced; only 17% adds to the overall economical income received.
Around 40% of the population are taking part in some form of farming; the amount of land that can be held is a lot lower than in 1952. The original figure being 80 hectares and today is reduced to 20 hectares.
As a result Egypt has one of the highest crop yields in the world with millions of products such as Maize, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Rice and Sugarcane being produced on a yearly basis. With the amount of farming that has taken place, this has resulted in a large growth of animals like Buffalo and Sheep since the 1980’s.
In terms of modern day Agriculture, the country is still experiencing problems today with a large deficit that is left in the finances and government officials are having to make this up with the other sectors the country deal with to try and solve any problems before they occur.
