» Web Design Principles You Need to Know
Before you start creating your web pages, there are some principles you need to be aware of regarding design web pages that will help you to succeed in designing, creating, and building your first website. Consider these factors:
· Home page: This is the first page people will go to and see. This page has to clearly mark out what you are intending to do for your customers. You need to provide a way for your visitors to get around your page. This means well-placed navigation. You can have a navigation bar going across your screen or along the side. The text should be informative and tell your visitors what you want them to do.
· Navigation structure: This was touched on briefly above. Most web designers place a navigation bar on the top and on the side. Some even put one on the bottom of the screen as well. It is good to place a navigation bar in convenient places on the page so your visitor can easily click on a link to get to another page without having to scroll all the way up the page to get to the button.
· Font size: When you set up your web pages, make sure the font size is large enough for people to see it. Don’t make a font so small that people have to squint to see it or use a magnifier. Also don’t make a font size so big one sentence covers two rows. Keep it balanced. At least 12 words per line are good enough.
· Graphics: When you design your website make sure to put in graphics and in the right places. Optimize your graphics for speed, and if you are going to put the graphics in an area where there is text, make sure the text wraps around the graphics. It looks better that way.
