Points to Ponder Before You Start in Web Development

Before you think about putting up a website or constructing one, you need to consider a number of things. You have to know who is going to host your site and what name to give it. You have to know what you are designing the site for. Here are more things to take into consideration before you do anything:

·        Content: What will your content be? What will you have on each web page? Is it going to be something different than the usual stuff? Or are you going to offer something completely unique? Something to think about.
·        Updates: How often will you update your site? Are you going to do it on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis? No matter how often you do it, will you have access to the site so you can make the changes? What software will you use to make the web pages to begin with? Will updating the site going to be easy or do you have to make complete alterations in the site design to update it?
·        Duplicate sites: Is there a site that is already doing what you are trying to do, or are you the only one who is actively pursuing this? Obviously you can’t steal someone else’s stuff. That’s why you have to make sure that what you have to offer has not been repeated already. Otherwise, you will have to sell it as an affiliate.
·        Format: What format will your site be in? Are you going to have all text on the site or a mix of text and graphics? Are you going to use animation or just use a couple of forms? The key here is to know what type of content will be on each web page. Since many people have slow Internet connections, you will need to have all graphics optimized for the web. So know ahead of time what you will be putting on each page.
·        Plug-ins: When you design your site you have to know if what you are putting on any web page will need to use a video or audio player. If so, will the user need to download a plug-in just to get the video or audio to work? Whatever you place on your site, you must consider if the user has to download a plug-in or not.
·        Time: One major factor in website design is time. It takes time to create the site to the specifications you want. Unless of course you use a template. This is a web page that has everything pretty much on it already. You just have to rearrange everything to fit on the page correctly.
·        Partners: Are you going to have more than one person involved in creating and building your site or are you going to do it yourself. Because if you have someone helping you, you have to rely on that person to come through for you and not to delay you getting the site done. You have to cooperate fully with him to ensure your site gets down correctly and quickly.
