Your doctor will diagnose menopause largely from the patient’s description of symptoms. Also blood tests, pap smear and a pelvic exam will most probably be performed. Some of the key indications that menopause has started are:
 
·        Cessation of periods for more than a year.
·        Higher levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in the blood.
·        Low levels of estrogen shown in the blood test.
·        Symptoms experienced by the woman, as listed below.
