Acid reflux affects an estimated 5% to 7% of the world’s population. This includes men, women, and children. There is a difference between an occasional struggle with heartburn and the actual condition of acid reflux. It is often unrecognized because its symptoms are not understood. This is very unfortunate because acid reflux is a very treatable condition and serious complications can arise if it is left untreated.
