The second world war was to cause many problems with the two neighbouring nations and the fact the borders were shared and still are today did cause many set backs during this time.
Despite a declaration of neutralisation was agreed between the two governments and in 1940 claimed the land as their own. It wasn’t until 5 years later that was country was finally eliminated and regained its independence due to the German armies surrendering to British troops and thus all islands/nations held in occupation.
Top Fact: Today you can see the similarities between the two countries and whilst they are completely different nations, you will find the residents are pretty similar and even today; many Danes are following the German’s way of life.
