There are many people who go on a cruise specifically for the fast-paced and action-packed activities available. They want to be able to – in a matter of several days – join all of the racquetball contests, spinning classes, and rock-climbing wall competitions. However, there are others who schedule their cruise for the opposite reason; they’re hoping to get away, to lay by the water, to watch the sunset, to just relax. So which desire is better fulfilled by a cruise? Are cruises more vigorous or relaxing? The answer is “both.”
Cruises specialize in a variety of activities, from heart-rate-raising sports to laid-back golf practices and serene spa visits. Or – for those wanting to be calm but mentally challenged – lectures and chess matches are available. Need some ideas as to how to relax or how to fill your time with action? Here are some:
Low-Energy –
• Lie by yourself in a lounge chair, breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the sun, and watch the gorgeous view.
• Go for a swim, and then sun-dry while reading a good book.
• Attend a piano concert, a lecture, a cooking demonstration, or a movie.
• Receive incredible pampering at the ship spa – from facials and a massage to the sauna.
Medium-Energy –
• Learn to play backgammon, chess, or bridge.
• Practice your tennis stroke or golf swing.
• Watch a comedy show while feasting on incredible cuisine.
High-Energy –
• Take a karate class, or go play a game of basketball.
• Play on the water slide, climb the rock wall, and then stop by the miniature golf course.
• Have fun at a casino, and then go salsa dancing.
Whatever you end up choosing to fill your time with, you can be confident that whether your primary motive for the trip is to rest without the cries of a child or to relocate your own inner child, activities to help with this purpose will be available.
