RAD Data Communications is making it possible for cellular telephone service to be available when callers are far out at sea, like on a cruise or ferry.

This new technology enables an affordable means of using satellites for cell phone use far from a typical transceiver.

I'm optimistic about this technology improving means of communication in general, but should I ever go on a cruise, the last thing I want to hear is someone yakkity yakking on one of those things like everyone around the office.
